GARY PRISK MEMORIAL MISSIONS FUND

Gary Prisk Memorial Missions Fund

"Gary Prisk epitomized what a real friend should be. He was a friend of God and a friend to preachers, and I am privileged to have called him mine."
 - Pastor Rick Adams
Greater Portland Baptist Church, Portland, OR

The Man

From a young man, Gary Prisk was obsessed with the pursuit of truth. Thinking he had found it in the Buddhist philosophies embraced by his generation of the late sixties, he left home for San Francisco becoming embroiled in that culture.

When he met Christ, he knew immediately that he had discovered real truth and surrendered his life to preach the gospel. With his wife Cheryl, whom he met at Bible college, he started the Bible Baptist Church of Oak Harbor, a small town in Washington state, and pastored there for thirty years. From the beginning, Gary Prisk saw the importance of training up men to start other churches. Through the curriculum he produced, initially just for his own men, thousands have now been trained for ministry in local churches around the world.

Despite his quiet demeanor and simple commitment to the local work of the ministry, God used him to influence and encourage pastors and many others throughout the entire Pacific Northwest and beyond.
"Gary Prisk was the embodiment of everything I teach and preach on servant leadership."
- Pastor Paul Chappell
Lancaster Baptist Church, Lancaster, CA

The Mission

The Gary Prisk Memorial Fund was established to encourage pastors and to further the work of both planting churches and training men for the ministry. The most effective way to accomplish that purpose is to see more pastors embrace the Biblical principle found in 2 Timothy 2:2, "And the things which thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

In order to help pastors develop a burden for church planting and pastor-training, the fund sponsors a number of "delegates" (pastors and their wives or key personnel) each year to attend one of the more impactful conferences in the nation. Two of the primary meetings that the delegates will be attending are Paul Chappell's Leadership Conference in California and Heartland Baptist Bible College's Ministry Refresher Institute in Oklahoma. All travel expenses and registration fees are paid by the fund.

The Fund

If you or someone you know would like to be considered as a delegate at a conference, please contact Evangelist Dave Sommerdorf at davidsommerdorf@yahoo.com, or (512) 626-0445.
