our

story

In Matthew 16:18, our Lord Jesus Christ said: "I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

This is the story of Trinity Baptist Church, Austin, TX.

our founder

Pastor J. T. Wood organized Trinity Baptist Church in 1953.

At that time the building was located in downtown Austin. God blessed the ministry and it became a lighthouse in the community proclaiming the life-changing message of the gospel for over five decades.

The church remained on Houston St. for 54 years; but on August 19, 2007, an arsonist's fire destroyed the building. After the fire, the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home graciously opened their doors to meet in their facilities free of charge and the church continued to assemble.  Pastor David Burkholder often remarked that the church didn't burn down, only the building.

Our Current Location

After much prayer and consideration of God's will, the current property was purchased at Forbes Drive. Plans and construction of a new building took nearly three and a half years. The first service in the new building was on January 16, 2011.

Following 33 years of ministry Pastor David Burkholder and his wife Marsha, was succeeded by
Pastor Dusty Brian, who along with his wife Hope and their family lead the church until 2024.

Our Pastor

In February 2025, Pastor Damien Jordan became the pastor. Pastor Damien and his wife, Amanda, have a passion to see lives changed and flourishing through the timeless truths of the Bible.

Our church is passionate to reach Austin and our world with the transformative gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope to meet you this Sunday with the hope that you too might become part of our story!
